Welcome to the Third Global Forum on TB Vaccines! During this Forum we expect to convene a few hundred scientists, politicians, policy makers, advocates and others, with a special interest in the development of new TB vaccines for the future.
During the Second Global Forum on TB Vaccines, held in Tallinn, Estonia in September 2010, over 200 attendees from over 30 countries concluded that a Third Global Forum should be convened soon with a similar format. The number of vaccines undergoing clinical trials is increasing, new and innovative developments are continuously being announced, and it is expected that a new, preventive vaccine will enter Phase III clinical trials by 2015. South Africa, which bears one of the highest TB burdens in the world, but is also at the forefront of research and innovation to address the TB epidemic – including TB vaccine research, has been selected as the venue for the Third Global Forum.
By attending this Third Global Forum, organized under the auspices of the Stop TB Partnership Working Group on TB Vaccines, you will be updated on all these developments. We are looking forward to meet you in Cape Town!
